A few things need to be done especially if you buy remanufactured or new toner cartridges. After buying your cartridges, give them some time to get used to the new environment and climate before using them. Also try not to expose the cartridges to temperatures that are very extreme, this can be leaving them in a very cold or hot environment. These extreme temperatures may fuse the toner making it a large single block inside the cartridge. So when you use this cartridge, it may damage your printer because the toner inside the cartridge won’t be able to rotate. Keep the cartridge upright at all times and try not to drop or bump it. This is especially important for cartridges that come unsealed and ready to print.
Make sure that you keep the cartridge in its package until you need to use it. This is because a lot of toner cartridges have parts that are sensitive to light, so exposing them to light will damage them and affect the quality of your prints. With cartridges that come with a pull-tab, make sure that you remove it before placing the cartridge inside the printer. Also, look after your cartridges so that no parts get damaged. Be careful with the drum component of the cartridge which is the part that is used to form the image before it’s transferred onto the paper. If you are not cautious you may end up damaging the protective shutter on the drum which will affect your prints. Always remember to install the cartridge into the printer immediately after removing it from its protective packaging.

There are many different brands when it comes to printers to cartridges. Some of the brands have printers that have the drum and the toner cartridge separate. So with these brands make sure that you unlatch the old toner cartridge that you are replacing from the drum. This way you won’t expose the drum to light. If you find that your drum has a lot of paper or toner dust or not, you can take it to a professional to have it cleaned. When doing it yourself, make sure that you don’t damage the drum by exposing it to too much light or scratching.
When your toner cartridge has run out just replace it with a new cartridge. Make sure that the new cartridge is in good condition and you did not expose it to extreme temperatures. Too much heat can also distort and melt the internal blades causing the toner to leak out of the cartridge.
